Congratulations to Viktor Orbán on his thumping victory at the polls today, reflecting the popularity of a leader who holds his country’s best interests to heart. We can be confident such a simple message will be entirely lost on our inept, self-serving government who appease the EU at every turn whilst rattling sabres of mere suspicion at Russia.
Thankfully, the EU has passed the zenith of its power- as its sun sets, it will not gainsay the Hungarian people. And we, for our part, can look forward to the removal of the rank amateurs in our government and withdraw from the EU unilaterally.
Time then, to bring back Lord Palmerston’s foreign policy- the balance of power. “We have no eternal allies and no perpetual enemies” he wrote, “our interests are both eternal and perpetual, and those interests it is our duty to follow”.
